Has anyone tried the new paint and primer in one offered from Behr? Hubby will be painting the powder room soon. It is currently a chocolate brown and we want to paint it a blue color. Since he will be painting alone, I thought this would be nice to try and save him a few steps.

Yes and I LOVED it! Was by far one of the best paints I've used. I just repainted my master bath with it in the satin finish. You can see pics in my blog. I went from a dark taupe color to light blue, coverage was fantastic!

We've used it twice now....one going from dark green to light blue, one going from the same hideous dark green to a medium tan. I couldn't believe it but in my Master (which is a good size...at least 14x16 maybe bigger) with 2 ceiling to floor windows, 2 doors, it took less than a gallon for 2 coats! I did use a small 6 inch foam roller though.
Using a Wagner Power Roller, it took a gallon for the first coat and another 1/2 gallon for the 2nd coat for DS's room. It did cover well in there too. I was pleased except for the stinky smell.
We used the 2nd gallon of the medium tan we thought we needed for MB in the dining room and it covered in one coat but it was going over almost white. I couldn't believe it covered that well in 1 coat and we are ALWAYS 2 coat people.

We're currently painting with it. We have a new construction home (so you know, the CHEAP paint that sucks up nice paint like a sponge). We covered white with a slate blue (forever denim) in 1 coat. It's a little more than the regular Behr (~$30/gallon instead of ~$20/gallon), but so worth it in the time savings, and if you don't have to buy primer, it's the same price anyway.

Yes, one coat was all it took, except for the 3 little sections above my shower (I have a cathedral ceiling in my bath) because of the moisture. Other than that, 1 coat! I was shocked! I bought 2 gallons of it but only needed 1 (I have leftover in the 1 gallon that I used).

Ditto what Sheila said! We used one gallon for a 17x20 living room - all in ONE coat! I was surely impressed!

This, we also have a new construction home, and needed primer + 3 coats of Valspar in our Living Room. We only needed one coat of this for our dining room, and used less than a gallon for the room. And the color looks great! We will only use this paint from now on.

My sister went dark gray & hot pink to tan. Two coats and it looks fantastic. I imagine I'll probably switch to using that stuff from now on since I'm cheap and the cost might equal the cost of the paint + Kilz I usually use.

i used this for painting our exterior trim and it turned out great. FYI- it costs $10 more then regular paint and you still need to put on 2 coats.
i would probably not waste the $ on buying this kind of paint for your regular every day painting, since you are only saving one coat of paint and paying more $.
I would use it for painting over crazy colors that might require more then one coat of primer or for exterior where i absolutely want to be done as quickly as possible.

I have used it twice and love it! The first time we went from a deep mustard to a pale blue/grey. The second time was from the same mustard to dark gray. Both times we only needed one coat.. I was impressed! I have never had a painting project go so quickly.

I used it in our guest room and went from rose pink/brown to dark teal. It's awesome. The only coverage issues I had was from not having enough paint on the roller. minor touch up and it was taken care of. No second coat required! DH and I plan to use it throughout our new place. The extra $10 is well worth only having to buy one gallon.
I've also heard really good things about Benjamin Moore Aura, but it's like $55-$60/gallon, which is waaay too much money for our budget!

Love it. My guest room was a dark sage green, and I painted over - with one coat - with the Behr "Clear Pond" paint + primer. I only needed one coat.

Ehh, I was not so impressed. We still needed 2 coats, I went through a gallon plus in my 10X14 Kitchen and nearly 5 gallons for a 10X12 bedroom, hallway and stairwell. We have relatively new construction, our home is 5 years old and it was the first time painting over the builder's white.
Our walls just sucked up the paint like a sponge. There's one spot in my kitchen that looks like it needs a 3rd coat.
We did Coastal Beige over builder's white in the bedroom/halls and Pale Honey in the kitchen over builder's white.
I'd post pictures, but my house is still a disaster area from moving in last week.
